- An understanding of the economics of Belize and of the world, the appreciation of work, the capacity to participate in economic activities, skill in design and the ability to use a range of technologies;
- A knowledge of the universe and an understanding of our solar system with special attention to the earth;
- An understanding of systems and subsystems in the physical world, including the natural environment and the need to preserve it;
- An understanding of number, quantity, and space and the application of relevant concepts;
- An appreciation of, and participation in, artistic ventures, particularly within the Belizean culture;
- The ability to communicate proficiently in English;
- Functional literacy in Spanish.
